The small village of Glen Ellen is nestled between the Sonoma Mountain and Mayacamas Mountain range in southern Sonoma County affording gorgeous scenery for its residents. Glen Ellen is most notably known as the home of the famous writer, Jack London, who lived there until his premature death in 1916. His legacy lives on at the Jack London State Historic Park, where his ranch has been preserved for viewing among the surrounding redwood forests.

This serene village is the perfect place for those seeking a home close to nature. With a population of only about 800, charming Glen Ellen affords its residents peace and quiet. It’s only 20 minutes north of Sonoma where there is ample shopping and dining, and the restaurants are excellent. Local wineries host plenty of activities, tours, and festivals for entertainment.

Jack London Village is a great place to spend the day browsing its unique shops and galleries with outdoor dining options among mature shade trees. This charming site features two great restaurants; Aventine, an Italian eatery, and Yeti an Indian-Nepalese restaurant. History buffs will enjoy the Glen Ellen Historical Society’s history exhibit located on the property.  
 
Fresh local ingredients from the Sonoma Valley are what make The Fig Cafe a long-time favorite in Glen Ellen. Since 1997, this restaurant has treated customers to tasty dishes like their pastis-scented steamed mussels and frites or their fig and arugula salad. Glen Ellen Star specializes in a wood fire cooking technique for their decidedly California fine cuisine. Locally sourced ingredients give their food great flavor with a rustic and refined atmosphere. 
 
For a unique grocery shopping experience, the Glen Ellen Village Market has everything for home cooking and plenty of high-quality take-out food choices. They feature an in-house deli, coffee and salad bar, fresh pastries, and daily fresh seafood. 
 
McCormick’s Mercantile is a family-owned shopper’s delight with a variety of gift options, custom framing, and homemade and local craft items. 

For breakfast and brunch options the Garden Court Cafe is a homey place to start the day. Les Pascals is the ultimate French patisserie and boulangerie cafe in Glen Ellen. Just a few of the many French treats available are croissants, baguettes, tarts, macarons, eclairs, and a variety of artisanal bread. Mini sandwiches paired with seasonal soups are available and
special-order delectable desserts like the Gateau Royale.


Things to Do

Transcendence’s Broadway Under the Stars is an annual event held at Sonoma Valley’s Jack London State Historic Park. Amidst the beautiful wine country scenery, the gala features world-class Broadway talent performances. It’s the “can’t miss” celebration of the year when visitors and locals alike can enjoy world-class talent performing under the stars and plenty of pre-show picnics and wine tasting. 
 
It's festive and funky when Main Street shuts down for the Glen Ellen Village Fair and the locals celebrate! It starts with a parade, kid’s games, and plenty of wine, beer, and food. Another favorite annual event is the Sonoma Harvest Music Festival at the B.R. Cohen Winery. This festival is held amidst the Olive Hill Vineyard and feels more intimate with a limited attendance of 4,000. The wine selection and gorgeous scenery are matched up with top-rated musicians for this two-day event.
